1000 Flowers for the Planet - #401 Give Someone Your Time
Having just passed the Christmas season, with all its gift-giving and over-eating, maybe the pleasure of spending time with your family has been brought to mind, enough to remind you that family and friends are actually our most important gifts. Perhaps, if we could replace the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh with love, patience and generosity, the world would be a better place. As we head into a new year, according to the Gregorian calendar, let’s take the opportunity to make a new year’s resolution to spend more time with those we love.
When someone phones, take the time to listen to them. Don’t hurry them or tell them you don’t have time to talk. Cherish time with family and friends, ensuring you’re in the moment, both in body and in mind. Be careful not to make work more important than people. Will you be able to look back on your life and say, “I’m so glad I worked all that overtime,” or will you say, “I’ve loved my family and friends completely, and I have so many wonderful memories.”
People are more important than things or timelines. Let’s make this a better world to live in, and start by giving someone your time.
