1000 Flowers for the Planet - #480 Observe World Meteorological Day
Today is World Meteorological Day, and to
explain it to you, here is a quote from the World Meteorological Organization’s
website [http://www.wmo.int/worldmetday/]:
“Since
1961, World Meteorological Day has commemorated the coming into force on 23
March 1950 of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization
and the essential contribution that National Meteorological and Hydrological
Services make to the safety and well-being of society. Each year, the
celebrations focus on a theme of topical interest.
The
theme for this year, “Climate knowledge for climate action,” provides an
opportunity to take stock of the climate knowledge built in the last decades as
an essential base to support the path towards more ambitious action to address
climate change and climate variability.”
So
it is up to us as individuals to ensure we gather information about climate
change and take action to ensure a better future.
