1000 Flowers for the Planet - #639 Observe World Food Day
World Food Day (16 October) is a day to focus on hunger
around the world and what we can do to eradicate the problem. There is enough
food to go around, particularly when you think of the amount of food wasted in
developed countries – enough to feed those in developing countries. One third
of the food produced around the world is lost or wasted. It’s a crime. So take
today to think about how you manage your own food resources and what you can do
to make things better around the world to help people who are struggling for
survival and their access to healthy food. You may volunteer your time at an
organisation that provides food parcels, or donate some money. Look for a World
Food Day event in your area and participate. Spread the word via social media
to get more people aware and on board. There is enough to go around if we use our resources more wisely, but
until money is no longer the driving force, and caring for others is the driving force, we won’t all be fed
equally.
